Born in 1930, Pedro Soler began playing guitar with exiled Andalucian refugees who came to Toulouse after the Spanish Civil War. He gained experience performing in flamenco companies, and later, by accompanying celebrated flamenco singers and dancers. He received training from guitar masters, including Pepe de Badajoz and Perico Del Lunar, the senior. Early in his career, he became the accompanist for the renowned singer, Jacinto Almaden, performing and touring with his company, Sonidos Negros, throughout Spain and the rest of Europe. Soler has accompanied other famous singers, including Juan Varea, Enrique Morente, and Pepe De La Matrona. He has also accompanied, among others, the distinguished flamenco dancers, Carmen Amaya, La Chunga, and La Joselito, who introduced him to the intricate world of flamenco dance. As a soloist, Soler has performed throughout Europe,South America, Japan, Russia, and Africa. In Paris, the Salle Pleyel and the Theatre Des Champs Elysees have welcomed him, and in London, he has appeared at Wigmore Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall.
